Posture
Posture correctors, lumbar supports, and standing aids, with honest notes on what a strap can and cannot do for you.
Start with the limit, because the marketing in this category rarely does. A strap cannot make a muscle stronger. What it does is hold the shoulders back and give you a physical reminder when you drift forward, and that reminder is genuinely useful for the first few weeks of trying to change a habit. Worn all day for months, it becomes something the body leans on, and the muscles that were supposed to be doing the work get less of it, not more. The products worth buying are the ones whose own instructions say to wear them for twenty or thirty minutes at a time.
Lumbar supports are a different object and get judged differently. A cushion that fills the gap between a chair back and the curve of your lower back does real work, and the whole question is whether it stays where you put it. Most fail on the strap: it slides down the chair, you push it up twice an hour, and by week two it lives on the floor.
Fit is the other reason these get abandoned. Correctors sized for a 100 cm chest dig into the armpits of a narrower one, and a support that has to go over clothes at the office is a support that gets worn at home only.
Nothing here diagnoses anything. Numbness, pain running down an arm or a leg, or discomfort that wakes you at night belongs with a clinician, not with a purchase.
